Preschool, Daycare and Early Learning for Mililani Families
At The Cole Academy Mililani, children receive care and instruction suited to their developmental stage. Our milestone-based approach begins with nurturing infant care and continues through toddler development, preschool and Junior Kindergarten.
The Cole Academy’s whole-child philosophy supports intellectual, creative, social, emotional and physical development. Children learn through structured instruction, exploration, movement, music, social interaction and purposeful play while progressing at an age-appropriate pace.
Childcare and Preschool Programs at Our Mililani Campus
The Cole Academy provides continuity from infancy through preparation for kindergarten. Children can develop within a familiar school community as they move through each age-based program.
Infant Care
Our infant program serves children from approximately 6 weeks through 12 months. Caregivers focus on secure attachment, sensory exploration, early communication and motor development while supporting each child’s individual needs and routines.
Wobbler Care
The wobbler stage, approximately 12 through 21 months, supports children as they begin walking, communicating and developing greater independence. Consistent caregivers help children build confidence while navigating feeding, movement, language and early social interaction.
Toddler Care
Our toddler program, approximately 22 through 30 months, combines active exploration with a rhythmic daily schedule. Children build language, motor, social and emotional skills while becoming more comfortable participating in a peer group and preparing for preschool.
Preschool and Junior Kindergarten
The preschool and Junior Kindergarten years build the academic, social and classroom skills children need for elementary school. Children participate in age-appropriate reading, math, science, language, music, movement and creative activities while developing confidence and independence.
The Cole Academy’s preschool structure supports children through key developmental milestones and intentional school-year transitions, with a strong emphasis on kindergarten readiness.
What Children Learn at The Cole Academy
Our curriculum is designed to educate the whole child. Learning areas include:
Early Literacy and Communication
Children build vocabulary, listening and communication skills through books, conversation, early reading activities, sign language and exposure to foreign languages.
Math and Problem Solving
Age-appropriate activities introduce numbers, patterns, sorting, comparison and early mathematical thinking.
Science and Discovery
Children are encouraged to explore, ask questions and develop curiosity about the world around them.
Social and Emotional Development
Classroom experiences help children practice cooperation, sharing, communication, emotional awareness and positive interaction with peers and caregivers.
Motor Skills and Movement
Indoor and outdoor activities support balance, coordination, physical confidence and both large- and small-motor development.
Kindergarten Readiness
Preschoolers develop early academic skills along with independence, classroom routines, problem-solving abilities and the social confidence needed for their transition to elementary school.
Preparing Children for Kindergarten—and Beyond
Kindergarten readiness involves much more than learning letters and numbers. Children also need experience following classroom routines, communicating their needs, participating in group activities and solving everyday problems.
The Cole Academy’s curriculum supports academic, artistic and social development. Beginning at age three, developmental assessments help teachers and families understand each child’s progress and prepare for the expectations of their next educational environment.
Whether a family is considering public or private kindergarten, our goal is to help each child approach that transition with confidence and a strong foundation for continued learning.

Drop-In and Backup Childcare
Even families with a regular caregiver or another preschool sometimes need an alternative when schedules change, a caregiver is unavailable or another school is closed.
The Cole Academy offers drop-in and hourly backup care on a space-available, appointment basis. Families interested in using backup care should apply in advance so the campus can coordinate required immunization and enrollment records before care is needed.
Classroom Ratios and Individual Attention
The Cole Academy staffs classrooms to provide children with meaningful attention and age-appropriate support. Target instructional-time ratios include:
- Infants: up to 1 caregiver for every 3 children
- Wobblers: up to 1 caregiver for every 4 children
- Toddlers: up to 1 caregiver for every 6 children
- Preschool and Junior Kindergarten: up to 1 teacher for every 8 children
Ratios may vary during naps, brief staff transitions and certain group activities, but they do not exceed applicable licensing standards.
